eharmony Commercial Campaign
A Trip To Eharmony Headquarters –
Our relationship with eharmony has been going strong for the past 4 years. It started off just as most any relationship does, admiration and trust. They admired our work and trusted us to do what we do behind the camera. We admired the reputable online dating company, from executives all the way down to its developers. Trust me when I say, you’ve never seen a workplace like this before! One where they completely trusted their employees to work and be productive without imposing restrictions that most workplaces do. It totally reminded me of that google movie with Vince Vaughn where everyone’s just wandering freely around this utopic workplace.
We pulled into a private parking garage and were was greeted by valet. They took our car and we proceeded to the elevator. A huge jar of advil sat on the counter we walked in off the elevator… this station is popular for Monday morning hangovers, I thought. I didnt have one today. Continuing to walk the building, I noticed the many perks of working for this company… free food and fridges throughout the building. We cut through a floor dedicated to lounging and games and remember doing a double take when I walked by the redbull fridge [like you’d see in a mini mart] fully stocked.
“Hey, can I get one of these?” I excitedly asked..
“Yeah sure.” the upper level employee chuckled.
“Thanks! how much are they usually?” I asked, thinking I’d scored.
“They’re free… for anyone” she said.
I was in shock. Insanity. They do that? This place is AWESOME! We continued to walk the halls and I noticed something strange.. the developers and other techy people had personal effects on their desks.. the usual picture frames and tchotchke’s but among them, bottles of booze. Handles. one guys desk looked like Don Draper [mad men] booze cart. WTF.
“They’re allowed to drink here at work?” I asked..
“Yeah, sure.. as long as they get their work done they can do whatever.. in fact some people sleep here”.
It was true just after that I walked past someone with a pillow and blankets under their desk. It was nuts.. I’d never seen anything like it. I’ve read online in studies that non traditional approaches like this have proven themselves effective and that workers are more productive when given shorter work weeks, longer breaks and total freedom to perform in their workplace. I mean, if they dont… they’re gone and responsible for screwing up the best thing they had going for em 😉
If this photography thing didnt work out, I thought.. I’ll just apply for a job here 😉
Ahhh but it did… and of course I work from home and have a fully stocked fridge and liquor cabinet at my disposal,. we’re doin alright.
Anyhow, I’m approaching this story Tarantino style: jumping past the first two assignments that got us where we are now in order to showcase our most recent commercial campaign below.
Commercial Photography – Eharmony Fall Campaign
We photographed a total of 9 models over 3 days in Los Angeles, multiple locations with a lot of coordination to get video and stills for the new ad campaign.
You can see some >BTS on Instagram here !<
Looking back on it now, its insane how much work goes into shooting a 15 second commercial. and its massively rewarding seeing the final product. the commercials are now live on TV and the stills are all over the new website. We shot everything below controlled in studio and edited with clean transitions so that they could be used for a variety of things. I heard there were supposed to be billboards at some point, thatd be rad. Never had our work up one of those yet.
