Rock Climbing Engagement in Joshua Tree

Rock Climbing Engagement in Joshua Tree

Packed the bags, dropped the kiddos off with Grandma and zippppppped up to the desert for some adventure! A rock climbing engagement in Joshua Tree???  YES,PLEASE!!  Carlo and Cassie were going climbing for the weekend and although the invite out to Joshua Tree was a bit last minute, we [thankfully] have kick ass parents who are down to take the kids on a minutes notice for us. Being only children has its perks!! Both of our parents have been anxiously awaiting grand babies for a while. We now have the best babysitting anyone could ask for!! so Thank you thank you precious grandparents. Sooooo on the heels of raging at Petco Park in San Diego for Monster Jam [The kids and Jess look forward to this ALL year long]  We kept the party going by tagging along with a couple of new friends doing what they LOVE to do, rock climbing!

Before I get into things much more I should say a massively rewarding part of doing what we do (8 years in) is referral business. We rock wedding after wedding making new friends every weekend and when those new friends reach out to us months or years later when planning their big day, it means the world to us. It is validation of everything we do. I love it. Carlo and Cassie are family from a past wedding of Alex & Julia up at the Circle Oak Ranch in Temecula. We all had a blast that night and when Carlo reached out to us saying they were getting married in Joshua Tree I was on board 10000%.

Can you believe we have never photographed a wedding in Joshua Tree yet?!? The flood gates are open now for sure. I mean, JTree is the place to be these days. It’s where all the cool kids go to elope and kick back ;)  it was time. These two go up there all the time and are seasoned boulderers and climbers. So we tagged along for an afternoon/ evening out.. Not going to lie, my stomach turned a bit when we got to the top of the rock formation and I looked over the side of a 100ft ledge. I’m thinking we should definitely gonna start with bouldering and work my way up to the tough stuff.

We photographed straight through sunset and into the dark, playing with off camera flash a bit and car headlights. Once the sun drops out there it gets cold so about the time we lost feeling in our hands we headed in and called it a wrap…  grabbed a couple beers and some bomb pizza to cap off a good time. I would love to get back up there again and try my hand[s] at bouldering. It looks like fun and wayyyy less intimidating than the whole harness tie in thing at this point for me. Adventure sessions in 2018.. goes hand in hand with our family travel plans in 2018. I’m totally pushing for this kinda thing from here on out…  so freaking rad.

This set had something like 150 photos in it. In order not to be redundant here are a few of my personal favorites. If you happen to be engaged and checking us out and are looking for something a little different than the norm, PLEASE hit us up and tell us whats on your mind!!  What are you into?? Pitch me on it. Short of jumping out of a plane I’m down for anything! Even still, I’m feeling more and more like I might wanna try that too ;)

That was rad, yeah!?  This rock climbing engagement session in Joshua Tree was brought to you by the letter “A” for adventure!! More adventure sessions please. Mountains, Desert.. you name it. Give a couple of Temecula Wedding Photographers a reason to skip town for a bit and do something totally awesome and new while taking pics that are uniquely you :))))  C&C – you two rock! psychically, literally and metaphorically… cant wait till the Wedding in Joshua tree this fall !
