Picnic at the beach – Bird Rock Engagement shoot
Katie and Orrin are two of my favorite people right now. When we first me up with them at the mall I knew we were a good fit. We had a natural flowing convo like friends would and I walked away stoked once again that cool people had found us and wanted us to be a part of their day. Not sure but Im pretty sure they found me on Craigslist. Yeah, Im still dropping ads on there… why? Even though I have outgrown what the CL market can typically support I still get cool people like this from time to time… I love it when couples are 100% behind what you are doing and trust in you to do your thing. It makes for great photos, trust.
We set up the engagement shoot for the Bird Rock / La Jolla area… I flew solo. Usually only one of us will shoot but Jess likes to be a part of our “get to know you/ engagement sessions” and will set up shots and keep the convo going if/when I slip into my artistic zone. [dont snap me out!!] Anyhow, Jess had gotten tied up and I was on my own today. We got to hang out at the beach for the afternoon and I basically just followed around and let the moments play out. It was refreshing to photograph their playfulness. At ease with the camera, they made me look good. We cruised the Bird Rock area and though Ive only been there once before we nailed a ton of rad shots just walking the streets and the beach. I love the on the spot stuff… “keep walking, ok stop there, yup thats good… ok got it.. onward!! ” after getting the city shots we went back down to the beach for sunset. Kate prepared a nice picnic basket with sandwiches and cupcakes and we set them up on the sand. I seriously just let them do their thing, minimal direction we got some rad photos. This is the way eshoots should be in my mind. check it!
