Orange County Field Engagement Photos
Temecula Wedding Photographer in the OC
I absolutely LOVE photographing my family. LOVE it. I’ve heard other wedding photographers in the past complain about it. Photographing a wedding of a distant relative being some sort of dreadful task that they don’t know how to politely decline. I don’t get it. . . Perhaps its the part about no longer being invited as a guest to weddings that bothers them? Personally I would rather not just be a guest at a wedding. While there is a certain level of responsibility that comes with photographing a wedding, I find the lack of responsibility of being a guest far less appealing.
It may all seem backwards at first until you consider that most any wedding you went to the amount of time you spent with the bride or the groom was minimal in comparison to many surrounding them throughout the day. The wedding photographer is actually the only one by their side as a wingman [or wingwoman] throughout damn near the entire day. We are assisting and calculating every step. Shaping the day and telling the story through the lens. One of my favorite moments to be a part of is the first look. Facilitating and witnessing the first moments they see each other that day is always electric. Together we share in every exhilarating moment. Every laugh, every happy tear, right there. A front row seat reserved for a very important day with most trusted role of preserving the memory and telling the story true to the day. Anticipating and grabbing every unrehearsed moment as it slips out. That 1/2 second is the difference between an epic shot or perhaps a just blink shot to throw away. As a guest I am over analyzing the photographers every move. I cant even relax. So please, if you are family do me a favor and have me photograph for you. I’ll be happier, I promise. And if you ever considered me a friend I urge you to do the same.
That bond we are about to make on the big day all starts right here, the engagement shoot. I’d like to introduce you to two people I love very much. One I have known much longer than the other but both are special to me in their own way.
My beautiful cousin Danielle. One year younger than I am, we were raised together and spent so many great years of our lives together as cousins do. She’s one of the last to get married in the fam and it made me so happy to get to photograph for her and Dave on their big day. I’ll save all the mushy gushy wedding vibe rambling for their wedding at Coto Valley Country Club which is going to make its way onto the wedding blog here soon enough. However it all started here with an engagement shoot.
A quick run into the hills together chasing the sun and grabbing the last hour of good light in a field. We shared laughs and came up with a great set of engagement photos and memories that led up to the big day. I couldnt be happier or more honored to share these moments with them.
I included the shot below because its more true to form of how they are together. Dave being the awesome guy he is was catering to my cousin and giving her the romantic vibe she was wanting when asked… but honestly the dude is hilarious and playful. So saying “alright dude, kick up the romance for this one” only lasts so long before he busts out cause of how ridiculous a request it is. lol Im with ya brutha… but you did good. real good.
