Destination Wedding Photographers at Waldorf Astoria – Chicago!!

Ahhhh here we go!! Day 2 in Chicago!! I’ll tell ya again, you get me out of town and show me a good time and I’m all yours. I mean what the hell else am I gonna do?? sit in a hotel room at the waldorf astoria until its go time for the wedding?!?! thats not me!! Nah, Im jumping in and partying with ya, camera in hand. Good times await!  So yeah, if you didnt catch the snapshot of our wild day one out on the town you can check it here [Waldorf Astoria Wedding day 1] . I broke it up so as not to confuse things.. ya know, blog viewers be thinking “now WTH are these people getting so trashed right before their wedding??”  lol …  Here begins day 2 of my vacation in Chicago with a kickass group of friends. This is the big day. This is what it all comes down to. I woke up to Brandon standing over me, cookin up a savory breakfast in the kitchen before the day even got going. Yeah, thats right.. I crashed out in the doorway to the kitchen on an extra blow up mattress and I’ll tell ya what… after a good late night of drinking with the crew for the rehearsal, it was all I needed, complete perfection. Slept like a baby… or perhaps just a drunk guy… Cause I’ve had two kids and Im not really sure where the saying “sleep like a baby” comes from.. babies dont sleep more than a couple hours at a time. Why they use that to describe a good nights sleep makes little sense now that I think about it.

Anyhow, back on track with my story of the day…  So there he is standing over me asking me how I like my eggs. lol. He didn’t need to do it, but he did… cause he’s a most excellent host. Got us all squared away before taking the time to do what he needed to do. You know the tedious duties a groom has in prepping for the big day: polish shoes, fresh shave, write vows etc.  Yeah sure, its nothing like what a girl goes through on the morning of,  but girls… thats a whole different story there.

After my protein packed breakfast I rolled over to the Waldorf Astoria Hotel where the girls were getting ready. Hair and makeup underway. You’ll probably notice that my story is a little one sided as you scroll through the photos I’ve posted from the day. Thats cause my counterpart / kick ass Palm Springs wedding photographer friend was holding down duties of the guys getting ready while I was with the girls. His snaps a amazing but so as not to confuse my role in this whole thing the only thing I’ll be posting up were snaps in which my finger made the click. Moving on.. as you can imagine, having a wedding at the Waldorf Astoria is no joke. Its about as baller as it gets and no expense was spared. These guys cleared out damn near every car in the main lot area so that they could facilitate our first look. I’ve NEVER had that happen anywhere before and it was a very cool thing to do for a bride on the big day.

After wiping up tears of joy [both of them] we hopped in the party trolley and headed over to a park with a killer view of the Chicago skyline. The place was freakin jumping… apparently this is the spot to hit cause there were half a dozen other wedding parties there and we had to wait in line to get the snap we wanted…  but made sure to take our sweet time once we did get in there. lol    It was ABSOLUTELY beautiful and the California kid in me knows that if Chicago stayed this way year round I could totally see myself there. But it doesnt, and its not called the windy city for nothin… so who am I kidding!?  I’ll leave it to the thick skinned crazies that love the cold. After snapping away at the park we all jumped back into the PARTYtrolley and headed to the Waldorf to get the party started. Essentially round 2 of what we had already done the night before. Im not gonna lie, Im not sure I have ever seen a better looking group of people..  they were likely all bred of models, which could be cause I didnt have a chance to meet all the parents… but to top it all off, these models know how to party!!!  ;)  annnnnnnd of course after all the important stuff was done [and we could pop open a few cold ones]  I’d think that Ryan and I did a pretty damn good job of keeping up with them. Just as good as a couple dudes nearly 10 years older should… still, Im sure the hangover we suffered was far greater. Still, although the consequences of these nights amplify with age, it sure as hell isnt stopping either one of us any time soon. on to the photos!
