Destination Wedding Photography – Casa De Monte Vista – Palm Springs Elopement
Dusting off the cobwebs and dropping in with my first blog post since COVID turned this wedding world upside down. Thats right! Its time to get back to the normal flow of life. Long over due actually… so here comes a Cannonball in the deep end. Sorting through hard drives of weddings now pulling up hundreds of magical moments that need to see the light of day. Its been too long, besides, its snowing here in NC… I might as well keep myself busy and make the best of the day.
Loading photos from this beautiful destination wedding at Casa De Monte Vista send a flood of nostalgia through my brain and a smile on my face. Warms the heart. Amazing how that happens. Moments. I’d almost forgotten trigger feelings, I can hear the clanking of glasses during the candlelight dinner and almost recall the smell in the desert breeze at dinner on the patio. The saying a picture is worth a thousand words is true, yet falls short of describing the feelings and emotions a single frame can inspire… something beyond what words can express.
Annnnnnnd thats why I do this. I can only imagine what they feel when they look at these photos of themselves again a year later <+>
To Wed or Elope? thats the question…
Especially these days! Post COVID priorities change when things get postponed, cancelled and put in perspective! It costs a lot of cash to get married and host the best damn party ever! We went way over budget and TBH if I was doing it again I might opt for a tiny Asheville wedding and a massive worldwide honeymoon! lol
This one borders on more the side of a small wedding than elopement, however, Jordan and Patrick definitely scaled it back from a massive wedding it could have been and made the journey from LA out to the desert, annnnnd got this intimate gathering among a very select group of family n friends at a private estate in Palm Springs… still keeping that cool vibe of old Hollywood.
Scroll down and see, timeless beauty. The hair, that dress… absolutely stunning. She looks like an old time actress during the golden age of Hollywood. They also went for the less traditional “first look” which is almost becoming the norm these days… which I love. Gave us plenty of time to take beautiful pics at the estate before the day got going. Not only that but it really help loosen the couple up and relieves any tension or nerves the big day may bring on. Once they see each other in that private moment it all disappears.
*If you are reading this as a bride to be and on the fence at all about the first look?? I say go for it. Especially if photos are important to you. The rest of the day still had all the laughter and tears, scroll, you’ll see… seeing each other prior to coming down the aisle doesn’t take anything away from being up there together exchanging vows.
Annnnnd thats the last thing I’m going to say. I’ll let the beautiful moments captured below do the rest of the speaking for these two.
Beautiful, wasnt it? Weddings are truly still my favorite events to photograph. Sure, concerts are fun! But nothing beats the emotion, energy and vibe of a wedding. There are ALL these amazing moments I know are going to play out going into it… just never sure of when or where exactly, which keeps me attentive and on my toes. Anticipating moments to come and landing them as they play out. Today was full of laughter, tears of joy… all the best things. So walking away with a bunch of beautiful moments frozen in time at the end of it is massively rewarding. It justifies all we do this for, love.
If you are a bride to be thats considering hiring a kick ass destination wedding photographer for your big day, I’d be honored to be considered! Reach out and say hi, please! Especially if you are having a Wedding in Asheville! We have just rooted down and are new to the area [as you can probably see my the massive amount of California weddings in my portfolio. Im definitely looking to get more Asheville Wedding Photography in my portfolio. Oh, Asheville Elopements too! Theres nothing toor big or little. In fact, much like this, I prefer the small scale :)
