Del Mar Race Track Engagement
Got a seriously awesome set of Del Mar race track engagement photos up on the blog on this scorching hot Tuesday afternoon for ya. Man, the summer out here in Temecula has been brutal… I’ve been hiding out inside editing all day. Its not even a “sit out and edit by the pool” day when you get up into the triple digits.
Fortunately for us on this shoot we skipped down and headed down to where the “surf meets the turf, in old Del Mar.” Annnnnnnd as the song claims, there were definitely smiles on our faces and winners in each of the races… we were on fire!! Between the four of us we put down a number of cocktails and came up on a nice chunk of change! Its been a long time since I’ve been to the races but I’m bout to reduce that number and make up for lost time after the afternoon we all had out there. I’d almost forgotten how rad that place is. Yeah sure, it doesn’t hurt to be in the mix of good company either ;) These two. I swear.. from the initial skype meeting we had, I knew RJ and Jess were my kind of people. I couldn’t wait to kick it.
We almost ran out of time in trying to get schedules to match. Its been hectic and a lot has been going on. After 2 reschedules it finally happened and Im so glad it did. The wedding is creeping up quick and now just a couple weeks out. Today’s shoot was an amazing warm up for it. Not that these two needed a warm up at all. This was more like a hang out with friends day at the track where we brought our camera along for the ride.
I did something a bit different with these Del Mar race track engagement pics in the final presentation. I really dig the way it came out too. Before this month I hadn’t done a whole lot in iMovie, however, my grandma passed a couple weeks ago and with me being the photographer in the family… I had the duty of slideshow maker fall upon me. So I struggled for a solid day with gathering up photos and doing something amazing in iMovie. After a good 6 or so hours of anguish I got a much better feel for all that the program is capable of. Definitely plan on doing a lot more of this.
So below is my second video ever. Its pretty good. Im sure one day in the not so distant future I will look back on this and cringe on how I cut the beats and timing… but unlike my grannys vid, this one only took an hour or so to figure out. It helps when you have all the pics dialed in and lined up. Although the timing can be tricky when you are trying to hit beats in a song like I chose. You move one thing it tears everything after it apart and requires reworking. For the tune I went with The Descendants– “Marriage”. I freakin love that one and it seemed totally appropriate to drop over these photos on the raging good time we had out together. Upbeat old school punk rock with a great message. Hope ya dig it!
