Portofino Hotel Wedding Photos
Excited to be posting this up today! A couple weeks back Jess and I got up to Redondo Beach and shot this wedding at the Portofino Hotel. The hot lookin couple in front of you is Nathan and Stephanie. Stephanie was actually referred to us by her brother Steve… who was a former groom of ours wayyyy back in the day. In fact, I’m gonna say Steve was one of the first weddings we ever photographed almost 6 years ago, which we shot for FREE. oh yeah!!! … crazy how that works.. Hey, you gotta start somewhere, right? Since then though, A LOT has changed with us, personally and professionally and I almost cringe at the thought of what we delivered to Steve as far as wedding photos go [6 years back] :0
Even though so much has changed, [from gear to editing] one thing hasn’t… Our basic approach. Be in the moment, stay in tune to whats goin on… anticipate the moments that are coming next. And that is what has helped us kick ass over the years.. just doin what we do. I guess as we’ve done this dance more and more we have gotten better at landing those moments and anticipating what comes next. Although in another 6 years I’ll probably just look back at this post and think I didnt know sh*t and still had a bunch to learn. lol. Cause thats how artistic progression works. Wedding Photography is no different than painting, playing music in a band, or anything else artistic. Some days/songs/creations are better than others, but keep pluggin away… keep progressing and living in flow and growth and skill will develop. The biggest compliment you can get as an artist is a referral. It means someone loved what you did enough to tell someone else about it. It validates the art and makes ya wanna strive harder.
Todays wedding is exactly that. I went out looking forward to shooting a couple in love. Capturing things as they played out. I knew there were going to be a buncha rad moments that were going to present themselves to me… all I needed to do was be there to grab them. And although, as a wedding photographer, you never know just when they’ll come… I wasnt stressing… I was in flow and doin my thing waiting for it. Nathan and Stephanie I cant thank you enough being awesome, accommodating and entrusting us. Your wedding was especially refreshing right now. I’ve had a couple interesting brides come along wanting me to be something other than what I was and it just makes me appreciate the awesomeness of both of you are all that much more.
I just re-read all that ^^ got a little serious for a second there ^^ lol. If ya’ll are still with me I’ll move along and wrap this thing up and drop in the photos. Hope ya enjoy pics of the day :) I think they are true to form of just how much energy and love was buzzin around amongst these two and their friends. Cheers for ear to ear grins!
