Oak Glen DIY picnic wedding [preview] – Los Rios Ranchos
I am so freakin excited about yesterdays wedding in Oak Glen that I just had to jump in and post up a preview on the day after. I guess I should start by saying that yesterday was also Fathers Day, and a fantastic one at that. I woke up in the morning tip toed out, got in my 1.5 mile run and on the tail end went and tossed frisbees at the frisbee golf course down the way. I came home and of course the kids were awake and buzzin around and wanting to go on a walk… I’d probably normally tell em “no you missed it” but it was Father’s Day ; ) … so back out again we grabbed the dogs n went around the block. Upon arrival home the 2nd time there were chocolate banana pancakes waiting for us thanks to my fabulous wife. We munched up an amazing breakfast, packed up and got on the road up to photograph our wedding in Oak Glen.
This is the stuff I live for! The day was just perfect. Yeah, I spent Father’s Day “working” an outdoor DIY picnic wedding amongst small intimate group of most genuine and caring people. There were tears of joy and lots of laughter and interesting conversation. I left totally refreshed thinking to myself “this is the way it should be”. Now dont get me wrong, I have fun at the wedding thats a raging party too… but this was such a break from the normal that it left me wishing for more.
So with this small preview of photos from yesterday I am putting it out to the universe : “I WANT MORE of this. MORE DIY Weddings. MORE heart. MORE intimate gatherings. MORE elopements. MORE inspiration. MORE true colors. MORE grooms crying. MORE of everything that makes me want to “work” on a day that others typically expect I’d have taken “off” :)
and now for a few favs from the portrait session… messin around with light, shadows and a prism.
just a day in the life of a wedding photographer in Oak Glen! Course this is just the tiniest snippet of the day from the portrait side of things. I’ll be posting all the candid goodness and tears just soon as I can.
